Week 11

I think our game seemed pretty straight forward right from the beginning. The Class had a couple of questions at the beginning but they seemed to quickly understand the game. In the first page of Ernest's "Writing Effective Rules" he talks about the preamble and how it should give a story instead of telling the rules right off the start. When we first started describing our game we started with the story of the village and the monsters and think the class enjoyed that as it gave them an understanding of our game right from the get go. I think immediately the class understood the type of game that it was, but it took them a moment to understand the final goal of the game. For our game strategy is hard. You can have a strategy all set up and then the moment you are about to act on it a card gets stolen or you swap hands with someone. While Strategy is important in our game it can also be immediately thrown out the window. On page 3 of Ernest's "Writing Effective Rules" he talks about how to start the game. In our game we all instantly started playing down our "Item" cards to try and get an early start on our opponents. Many of the class had questions about each card and the worked and the end goal of collecting these cards over our opponents. Most of the class's comments were pretty positive overall. They felt that our game worked pretty well and seemed like a fun game to try and play. On Page 3 again Ernest talks about what we need to play the game. When talking about that you could in theory use a plain deck to play our game but we decided to add color to all the cards to help make it easier to discern which card is which and what villain they belonged to. So overall i felt that the class enjoyed our game. They gave us good input on some minor fixed but also gave us a lot of compliments about our game
